Job Title: Kitchen Assistant & Hostess
Location: Ford Place, Thetford
Hours: 27 hrs a week, 9am to 6pm, available to work alternate weekends
About the Role
As part of our catering team, you play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the home and delivering an exceptional dining experience for our residents. Supported by our chef, you will help prepare high-quality meals tailored to individual tastes and dietary needs, while maintaining a spotless kitchen environment and completing tasks to the highest standard.
In addition to your kitchen responsibilities, you will work as a Hostess, bringing warmth and personal attention to mealtimes throughout the home. This dual role combines practical skills with a caring, people-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Assistant Duties:
- Assist the chef in preparing and serving meals to residents.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen at all times.
- Complete scheduled tasks and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Prepare simple meals under the guidance of the chef.
Hostess Duties:
- Provide a warm welcome to residents and visitors, creating a friendly and comforting atmosphere.
- Encourage social engagement during mealtimes to reduce isolation.
- Offer personalized service, accommodating dietary preferences and ensuring residents feel valued.
- Assist with table settings and meal presentation to enhance the dining experience.
- Support residents with menus, seating, and mealtime assistance, ensuring dignity and comfort.
- Collect feedback on meals and service to help improve quality.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential—full training will be provided.
- Flexibility, patience, and a caring attitude.
- A genuine ‘people person’ who enjoys interacting with others.
- Ability to work alternate weekends.
- Right to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship for this role).
